Greater Vancouver IT Case Studies: Real Problems, Practical Delivery

These are real NYRO client projects. We left out client names and sensitive setup details. We also left out made-up performance numbers. Each story covers the problem, the work and the result.

How to Read These Stories

Evidence Without Pretending Every Detail Can Be Public

Client names, account details, diagrams and street addresses stay private. So do sensitive security settings. We still name the city, industry, challenge, scope and outcome. That shows the work without exposing the client.

Moving a Veterinary Clinic Without Leaving Clinical Technology Behind

A Vancouver veterinary clinic was moving to a new site. This was not a simple desk move. Staff relied on an X-ray system, internal apps, shared folders, computers, the network and Wi-Fi.

The Business Problem

The clinic needed one plan for the move and computer refresh. Each system had to work at the new site. That included the X-ray station, clinic apps, shared files, staff computers and Wi-Fi.

The move was also a good time to clean up the network. It made little sense to copy old problems into the new clinic.

The Environment

  • Veterinary X-ray equipment and its connected technology
  • Internal clinic applications and shared folders
  • Staff computers requiring refresh and reconfiguration
  • Business network, switching and wireless coverage
  • User access and the overall security posture

What NYRO Did

NYRO treated the clinic as one connected IT system. We first mapped what staff needed at the new site. We refreshed every clinic computer. We also rebuilt the network and Wi-Fi layout and reviewed the security setup.

We moved the internal apps and shared folders staff needed. We then reconnected and checked the X-ray system. It was part of the move plan, not a problem left for opening day.

Relocate

Move the clinic’s connected technology between Vancouver locations.

Refresh

Update and reconfigure the computers staff would use at the new clinic.

Restructure

Build a cleaner network and wireless foundation while improving the security posture.

The Result

The clinic completed the move with its key systems in place. The X-ray system, clinic apps and shared folders were available at the new site. Staff also had refreshed computers and a rebuilt network and Wi-Fi setup. One IT team owned the full move.

Port Coquitlam + Maple Ridge · Commercial Retail · Multi-Site Network

Connecting Two Retail Offices as the Business Expanded

A retail business grew from Port Coquitlam into Maple Ridge. The new office had to work as part of the same company. Staff needed a secure link between sites and access to shared tools such as printers.

The Business Problem

A second office can become an IT island. Staff may not be able to reach the same systems or shared devices. That slows down normal work.

The company needed a stable link between Port Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Access also had to stay clear and easy to support.

The Environment

  • Two commercial office locations
  • Separate local networks and internet connections
  • Business resources needed by staff across both sites
  • Shared printers and location-dependent device access
  • A requirement for stable, maintainable inter-site connectivity

What NYRO Did

NYRO built the site-to-site link between both offices. We set the network paths and access rules for approved business tools. We also connected the shared printers across the two sites.

We tested the link from both offices. Each site kept its own local network, but both could now work as one supported company system.

The Result

Staff could use approved shared tools and printers from both offices. The business gained a clear network base for its two-site operation. NYRO could document and support it as one company setup.

Greater Vancouver · Film Production · AWS + Synology Backup

Building a More Deliberate Backup Approach for Film-Production Data

A film company needed a better way to back up its data. It also wanted tighter access and security. The plan used a Synology NAS on site and AWS S3 in the cloud.

The Business Problem

Film data matters during a job and after it changes hands. One device or one site is not enough. A hardware fault, deleted file or site issue could put the only copy at risk.

The company needed both a local copy and an off-site copy. Access security also had to be part of the plan.

The Environment

  • Film-production business data
  • Synology network-attached storage
  • AWS S3 cloud object storage
  • Local and off-site backup requirements
  • Access controls and overall security posture

What NYRO Did

NYRO set up the Synology NAS as the on-site storage layer. We then set up AWS S3 as the cloud layer. We organized how data moved between them and reviewed who could get access.

We also improved the security around the backup system. The company gained a clear view of where data lived, how a second copy reached AWS and which accounts could manage it.

The Result

The film company gained both an on-site and a cloud backup layer. Its data no longer depended on one storage location. Access and security around the backup system were also clearer.
